How Amazon FBA Fees Work
Every FBA sale pays a referral fee and a fulfillment fee, and some products pay more. The calculator works out each one from the product’s category, size, weight and price.
Referral Fee
A share of the selling price, set by category: 15% for most categories, lower for some (for example electronics), with a minimum per item ($0.30 in the US). Some categories charge a lower rate above a price threshold.
FBA Fulfillment Fee
Amazon picks, packs and ships the order. The fee depends on the size tier, the shipping weight (the higher of the real and the dimensional weight) and the price band. US fees include the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge.
Monthly Storage Fee
Charged per cubic foot of the package each month. October to December costs more than January to September. The calculator shows one month of storage for one unit.
Inbound Placement Fee
In the US, Amazon charges for splitting your shipment across fewer warehouses. The calculator uses the Amazon-optimized split, which is free for standard-size products.
Variable Closing Fee
Media only: books, DVDs, music, video games and software pay a fixed amount per item on top of the referral fee ($1.80 in the US).
2026 Holiday Peak Fees
From October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027 Amazon adds a peak surcharge to the FBA fee. The calculator switches to the peak rate card on these dates by itself.
What Resellers Use It For
Check a Wholesale Product Before You Order
Enter the supplier’s unit price as your cost. If ROI is under your target at today’s price, the break-even price shows how far the price can fall before you lose money.
Price an Arbitrage Find
Found a product on clearance? Enter the store price plus tax as your cost and see the profit after every Amazon fee, before you buy it.
Choose FBA or FBM
Switch between FBA and FBM to compare. FBM skips the fulfillment and storage fees, but you pay the shipping. For heavy or slow products FBM often wins.
How many units will it sell? The free Amazon Sales Estimator shows the monthly sales of any ASIN and the sales curve of its category.
