How to Estimate Amazon Sales

  1. Step 1

    Pick the marketplace and category

Choose the Amazon marketplace and the product’s root category, the one its Best Sellers Rank is in. Or switch to By ASIN and paste the product.

  2. Step 2

    Enter the BSR

Copy the Best Sellers Rank from the product page, under Product information, and enter it as a number.

  3. Step 3

    Read the monthly sales

The estimate comes from the sales model of that category and marketplace.

BSR and sales

How BSR Turns into Sales

Best Sellers Rank says how a product sells compared with the rest of its category. The same rank means different sales in different categories.

BSR Is Relative

A rank of 1,000 in Toys & Games and 1,000 in Musical Instruments are different products: the bigger the category, the more sales a rank stands for.

BSR Changes Every Hour

One sale can move a slow product up thousands of places. Read the rank with its history, and do not judge a product by a single spike.

One Model per Category

Seller Assistant trains a sales model for each root category on each marketplace, and retrains it every month on fresh data.

An Estimate, Not a Count

The models learn from Amazon’s "bought in past month" badge, which Amazon rounds (50+, 100+, 1K+). Read the result as the order of magnitude, not an exact number of units.

Use cases

What Resellers Use It For

Decide How Many Units to Buy

Divide the monthly sales by the number of FBA sellers on the listing to see your share, then order a month or two of stock, not a year of it.

Compare Two Suppliers’ Products

A product with half the profit and five times the sales earns more per month. The estimated monthly profit puts both on one scale.

Check a Category Before You Enter It

Estimate a few ranks in the category, for example 10,000, 50,000 and 100,000, to see how fast sales fall with rank. In a steep category only the top few thousand ranks sell well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Visit Help Center
How does the Amazon sales estimator work?
It reads the product’s current Best Sellers Rank and root category, and runs the sales model of that category and marketplace. The models learn from products whose monthly sales Amazon shows, and are retrained every month.
How accurate are Amazon sales estimates?
They show the order of magnitude, not an exact count. The models learn from the rounded sales badge Amazon shows on listings, and sales also move with the season, the price and stock-outs. Compare products on the same scale rather than plan to the unit.
How do I convert a BSR to sales?
Pick the marketplace and the category in the form above, enter the rank and press Estimate sales. The estimate uses the sales model of that category and marketplace.
Why are there no estimates for some marketplaces?
Sales models exist for amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de, amazon.fr, amazon.it, amazon.es, amazon.ca, amazon.com.mx, amazon.in and amazon.co.jp. Fees and profit work on every supported marketplace, including Brazil and Australia.
What is the highest estimate?
An estimate never goes above the sales of the top-ranked products of the category. A product at the cap shows "or more".
Is the Amazon sales estimator free?
Yes. Single products are free and need no account. Price List Analyzer estimates sales for every product in a supplier file, and the Seller Assistant extension shows the estimate on every Amazon page.
